New Bathroom Construction in Lambertville, NJ Picture 4 | BMR BelMax Remodeling

Remodeling a bathroom means working within an existing room. Building one means starting with a space that has none of the things a bathroom needs: no drain, no supply lines, no electrical, no walls to waterproof. This Lambertville project built a complete bathroom in 30 square feet from the framing out — including a new electric water heater, because the existing water supply situation couldn’t support the new room. Completed July 2026 at $10,300. See our bathroom remodeling services.

Scope of Work

  • New walls and ceiling framed and drywalled — moisture-resistant drywall throughout
  • New interior door installed, painted with casing
  • New drain lines for shower, toilet, and vanity
  • New supply lines for shower and sink
  • New electric water heater installed
  • Toilet, customer-supplied vanity, and vanity faucet installed
  • Medicine cabinet or mirror installed
  • Light fixture above sink
  • Ceramic floor tile installed
  • Electrical outlet and vanity lighting
  • Exhaust fan installed
  • Baseboards, painting, finish work

Starting From Zero

Adding a bathroom to an existing home is a different kind of project than renovating one. There’s no existing layout to reference, no plumbing rough-in to build on, no ceiling to patch. The project starts by deciding where the room goes and then working backward: where does the drain connection happen, what’s the routing for the supply lines, where does the electrical panel need to reach, how does the exhaust get vented to the outside.

In a 30-square-foot bathroom, those questions have to be answered together, not sequentially. The drain location determines the toilet position. The toilet position influences the vanity placement. The vanity placement affects where the door can swing. Getting those constraints to resolve into a workable floor plan before the walls go up is the design work that a small bathroom requires before any construction begins.

The Water Heater

A new electric water heater was installed as part of this project. That’s not a standard line item in a bathroom remodel, but this wasn’t a remodel — it was a new bathroom in a location where the existing hot water supply couldn’t serve it. Including the water heater in the scope made the bathroom a complete, independent facility rather than one that depended on a plumbing infrastructure that wasn’t set up for it. A bathroom that has a shower with unreliable hot water isn’t really functional. The water heater is what made this one actually usable from day one.

30 Square Feet: Fitting Everything In

The challenge in a 30-square-foot bathroom is that there’s no extra space to absorb a bad layout decision. A toilet that’s positioned two inches in the wrong direction might conflict with the door swing. A vanity that’s a few inches too wide blocks access to the shower. The fixture arrangement that works in a large bathroom doesn’t scale down automatically.

The finished room has a shower, toilet, and vanity all within 30 square feet and all accessible without interference between them. Ceramic floor tile makes the surface practical for a wet bathroom. The exhaust fan handles moisture from a room that now generates daily shower steam in a space that previously had none of those conditions.

Bathroom Builds in Lambertville and the Region

Lambertville is a Hunterdon County borough along the Delaware River with a mix of historic properties and older homes where adding bathroom capacity is often more practical than trying to expand within the existing layout. Building a new bathroom from scratch is a different scope than renovation — it requires coordinating framing, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical from zero. Belmax Remodeling works throughout Lambertville and the surrounding area. For more on local bathroom work, see our Lambertville bathroom remodeling page or our bathroom remodeling service page.
