Large-Format Tile in the Shower and Tub Area

The main visual feature of this bathroom is the large-format wall tile installed on the shower walls and bathtub wall area. In the shower, the tile was carried up to the ceiling, creating a clean full-height surface with fewer grout lines and a more continuous modern appearance. Around the freestanding tub, the same tile was installed up to the windows, tying the tub area into the shower wall design instead of treating it as a separate finish zone.

Large-format tile requires proper substrate preparation. Before the tile installation, cement board was installed in the shower area and on the bathroom floor. This gives the tile a stable surface and helps protect the wet areas from long-term moisture problems. With large tile, wall preparation matters because any unevenness in the framing or backer board can show up in the finished tile surface.

Custom Shower with Bench, Niches, and Granite Seat

The shower was rebuilt with a new custom shower base, two recessed niches, a framed rectangular bench, and new shower doors. The bench was framed inside the shower and finished with a granite top, giving the seat a solid, durable surface that works well for daily use and is easier to maintain than a tiled horizontal surface with multiple grout joints.

Two recessed niches were built into the shower wall with shelves for storage. These details need to be planned before the cement board and tile are installed, because the niche framing, waterproofing, layout, and tile cuts all have to work together. Built-in niches give the shower a cleaner appearance than surface-mounted storage and keep shampoo and bath products off the floor and bench.

Marble thresholds were installed at the shower curb and bathroom door jamb. These transition pieces finish the tile edges cleanly and help the shower curb and doorway read as intentional details rather than exposed tile terminations.

Freestanding Tub with Tile Backdrop

The freestanding tub area was another major part of this remodel. New water supply and drain lines were installed for the tub and freestanding tub filler. The customer’s freestanding tub was installed with a black floor-mounted tub filler, creating a separate soaking area within the bathroom.

The tub wall was finished with the same large-format tile used in the shower. This gives the freestanding tub a finished backdrop and helps protect the surrounding wall area while keeping the room visually consistent.

Vanity, Lighting, and Electrical Upgrades

The customer’s double sink vanity was installed with new sinks and vanity faucets. Above the vanity, we installed a large LED medicine cabinet with mirror. This added both storage and improved lighting at the vanity wall.

The bathroom ceiling was upgraded with recessed lights, and an additional electrical outlet was installed for improved daily use. These electrical upgrades are important in a full bathroom remodel because the lighting layout and outlet placement affect how functional the finished space feels, not just how it looks.

Toilet Privacy Wall with Custom Shelves

A new half wall was built to separate the toilet area from the rest of the bathroom. This detail adds privacy without closing off the room completely. Custom wooden shelves were built into this section, turning the partition into a functional storage feature instead of just a divider.

A new modern toilet was installed in the toilet area, matching the updated design of the bathroom and completing the fixture package.
